Testing requirements for promotion to 7th Dan Black Belt:

 

A demonstration of a basic physical proficiency and understanding of the pattern Tong-il, as well as the knowledge and physical proficiency of all patterns, and pattern exercises in the art of Taekwon-Do.

 

A demonstration a basic physical proficiency and understanding of all step-sparring formats learned at previous belt ranks has been maintained.

 

A demonstration of a basic physical proficiency and understanding of all kicks in the art of Taekwon-Do.

 

A demonstration of basic physical proficiency and understanding of the following techniques;

Parallel Ready Stance with an Overlapped Backhand (na-ran-hi seo po-gaen son-deung)

Sitting Stance W-Shape Block with the Outer Forearms (outward)

Walking Stance Low Block with the Outer Forearm (reverse - outward)

Walking Stance middle Block with the Knifehand (obverse - outward)

Walking Stance middle Front Pushing Block with the Palm (reverse)

Walking Stance middle Punch with a Twin Forefist

Walking Stance high Side Block with the Reverse Knifehand (obverse)

Walking Stance middle Side Block with the Reverse Knifehand (reverse)

Walking Stance low Inward Block with the Palm (reverse)

Walking Stance high Front Thrust with the Angle Fingertip

Walking Stance high Front Strike with the Under Fist

Rear-Foot Stance middle Inward Block with the Outer Forearm

Rear-Foot Stance Upward Block with the Bow Wrist

Walking Stance - Low Block with the Outer Forearm (reverse - outward), and middle Block with the Knifehand (obverse - outward)

 

There are no specific breaking requirements for promotion to 7th Dan Black Belt.  However, it is expected that the student will perform several breaks on 1" pine boards and/or concrete tiles including power and technique breaks.

 

demonstration of a basic physical proficiency and understanding of the Ho-Sin-Sul (Self Defense) techniques in the art of Taekwon-Do

 

An understanding of the characteristics of a Parallel Ready Stance with an Overlapped Backhand (na-ran-hi seo po-gaen son-deung)

 

An understanding of the pattern history, pattern diagram, and number of movements for the pattern Tong-il

 

Training expectations for the Chang Hon Kwan Taekwon-Do class are that the student must complete 72 months of active training at a 6th Dan Black Belt level.

 

Rank Promotion Testing

Actual physical requirements AT testing for a 7th Dan Black Belt will consist of a demonstration of the pattern Tong-il.   The testing candidate may also choose to perform a Specialty Demonstration of their preference.  The contents of such a Specialty Demonstration are developed by the testing candidate.  This demonstration should highlight their physical proficiency and understanding of one or more elements of the art of Taekwon-Do listed above including patterns, step-sparring, sparring, kicking, Ho-Sin-Sul, and/or breaking.
